Guity Nashat, distinguished economic historian of the Middle East, will analyze the important presidential election in Iran this week in the light of the development of its people and of the Islamist regime, now 30 years in power. She also will discuss the evolving geopolitics of the region in view of President Barack Obama's overture for dialogue with Iran , issues of nuclear weapons proliferation and the threat of the Taliban and growing disorder in Pakistan.
