Rio de Janeiro’s experimental middle school: innovations in Rio de Janeiro’s education system

When: 09/13/2010, at 10:00

Beginning in 2011, Rio de Janeiro will initiate a series of innovations with the objective of improving student development during their last three years of middle school. Rio de Janeiro's Experimental Middle School, which has a school in every region of the city's public network, will supply full time students (from 7:30 to 17:00) with exclusive professors and work regimes as well as professor-tutors, with higher salaries. The infrastructure will incorporate computer science, lab time and thematic classrooms, as well as many other activities such as reading circles and extra Portuguese and Mathematics classes. It is an important social innovation in Brazil’s public education system.
