UN Violence Against São Paulo

Based on data from 1999, by far the most violent year in the state and greater São Paulo Metropolitan Area

Author: Nilson Vieira Oliveira | October 2007

Disturbing news for citizens of São Paulo: São Paulo is the most violent city in the world. Now, some heartening news: this unfortunate distinction only gained widespread media attention because it was announced by an international agency and, therefore, the information may be outdated or wrong. Lucky for São Paulo, both problems were present in this case.
